Rolling valleys, long-stretched footpaths. Authentic Spain, where never-ending quietness can still be found here and there. Welcome to Polop! This small, picturesque village in inland Spain, is surrounded by outstanding natural beauty and is perfectly suited for those who like quietness and for hikers and cyclists.
The Costa Blanca naturally is the place to be for sun-, sea-, and beach lovers. The various coastal resorts all have their own Spanish charm with vast (pebble) beaches, boulevards and terraces. Not far from Polop, you will find other popular seaside towns as Albir and Altea. The latter is famous for the rock in the sea, named the “Penyal d’Ifac”, its fishing harbour, fish market and its many fish restaurants.
Looking for a bit more bustle? The big bathing resort Benidorm can be reached by car in less than half an hour. The clean and safe beaches here have been awarded many times. Apart from sun bathing, you can also enjoy many (water) sports activities such as volleyball, beach football, or water-skiing (provided by the cableway ski installation of the water-ski school).

Although the coast and crowded Benidorm are only a 20-minute drive away, Polop is located far away from all the bustle and hysteria of the coastal region. Yet, this doesn’t mean you won’t be able to enjoy yourself in this area. The vast mountain region west of Polop, towards the Spanish inland, encloses the entire region and offers many possibilities for walking, biking and hiking purposes.
There are plenty of opportunities to entertain the entire family such as the multiple theme parks and water parks in and around Benidorm. Sporty people will have a fantastic time in “Parque de Foietes” where they can participate in various ball sports, run a lap or two at the athletics track or go for a swim in the pool with Olympic sizes. Benidorm will offer both the young and the old a great time, also until the wee hours.
On Sundays you can visit the castra, the Spanish flea market. On Polop’s highest point, you will find the former cemetery “Castillo De Polop”, which offers a spectacular view over the inland with the horticultural fields of “Calosa d’en Sarrià” and over the mountain ridge “Puig Campana”. The area offers many great other sights like “El Castell de Guadalest” (the castle of Guadalest) located at the northwester side of Polop. The castle does not only give an insight into the old ways of life, it also offers a stunning view. Next to to this, the beach town Altea is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful in the region and worth paying a visit. The old town centre also has a magnificent church called “Virgin del Consuelo”. The square in front of the church offers a great view over the city and its white houses.
Polop has a supermarket, a pharmacy, bakery and various lovely little restaurants and terraces. There is a large offer of cafés, from Dutch bar to British pub, which show the diversity in nationalities.
